In according to the Norwegian regulations related to resource management in the petroleum activities on reporting quality-assured well data to the Diskos NDR. Operators are by law obligated to report all acquired well data on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). However, oil companies have seen the added value and competitive advantage of organized and quality checked data for internal use, and for these reasons have implemented the same reporting routines for old and international well data.

Diskos was formally established in 1995 to provide high quality and organized well data, according to predefined standards (Blue Book table A1). The implementation of these regulations have given Norway a unique advantage by supplying geological data to oil companies, authorities and academical institutions to be used for exploration, research studies and teaching purposes.

Logtek AS was established in 1997 as a result of increased data volumes and need for organizing data as well as the new requirements from NPD. We have become the leading service provider meeting all these requirements. We have performed many large cleanup and unitization projects, for both national and international oil companies.

We provide a wide range of wellbore related services, including wellbore data quality control and reporting to Diskos NDR.

Wellbore data quality:

We use internal developed software for efficient and accurate quality control (QC) of wellbore data.

Data are received by Logtek from operators and/or service companies as soon as acquired. The QC procedure includes:

  • All digital sets are checked against their corresponding plots

  • Logtek request new data if errors are discovered, by creating detailed QC report highlighting the errors both in text and figures

  • New corrected data will be QC'ed again to make sure that the corrections are correct and no other errors are made

Edited raw data:

When all raw data have been received and quality approved, Logtek creates edited data sets based on the regulations defined by Blue Book.

Petrophysical composite

  • Includes all logging curves presented on field prints in original increments

  • All NMR & High Resolution data are included

  • MWD data depth shifted to match EWL data (if needed) & vice versa

  • No editing applied to the curves except:

    • Constant/straight lines are removed from top/bottom of the log curves

    • First readings (EWL data) & Last readings (MWD data) are removed between runs

  • MWD & EWL data runs are merged from top to TD in separated files

Composite:

  • Petrophysical composite curves from above are used as input

  • Includes the primary curves as defined in Blue Book

  • Includes the best data from MWD & EWL, merged from top to TD

  • Logs are edited for washouts & casing effects

  • First readings (EWL data) & Last readings (MWD data) are removed at the top/bottom of logged interval

  • Typical usage is CPI input and geological correlation

Renaming and reporting:

We use internal developed software for efficient and accurate renaming, organizing and reporting of well data and reports. Our software is developed based on the file naming definitions and standards defined by the Blue Book table A1. In addition, the software is also used to handle international data.

The renaming and reporting workflow is fully automated ensuring efficiency, high quality data and cost reduction.

Our software:

  • Creates predefined folder structure

  • Generates information files for corresponding data

  • Generates logging summary file based on all the information files

  • Handles large volumes of data (i.e core photos)
